Alcohol consumption has become a normal part of our existence. From social gatherings to daily stress relief, to a seat at the bar alone, alcohol is often seen as a way to relax and unwind. But, have you ever stopped to think about the hypnotic tactics this industry uses to make us buy and consume alcohol?
Hypnotism is the process of inducing a state of trance or sleep to influence behavior or thought. It is often associated with stage shows and mind control, but in reality, hypnotism is a natural state of mind that we all experience every day. When we become engrossed in a book, app or movie, we are in a state of trance, and our minds are more susceptible to suggestion.

The same goes for advertising and marketing tactics used by the alcohol industry. From catchy jingles to glamorous images of people having fun while drinking, the alcohol industry uses various hypnotic techniques to influence our behavior and encourage us to buy and consume their products.
Hypnotic Tactics to Promote Alcohol Consumption
One such technique is 1) Repetition. Advertisements for alcohol are often repeated on TV, billboards, and social media platforms, making them hard to ignore. Over time, the repeated exposure to these ads makes them more familiar and increases their influence on our subconscious minds.

Another hypnotic technique is 2) Association. Advertisements for alcohol often boast attractive people, fun activities, and social gatherings, creating an association between alcohol and positive experiences. This association makes it more likely for people to consume alcohol in social settings and feel that they are missing out if they don't.
The use of 3) Emotional Triggers is another hypnotic technique used by the alcohol industry. Ads often create an emotional connection between the viewer and the product, using themes such as friendship, love, and happiness. This connection makes it more likely for people to seek out alcohol to feel these emotions.
This 3rd technique is especially dangerous for those of us who struggle with this disease. So many of us have suffered in the dark, alone. Hoping the warm liquid would somehow magically evaporate into love and care; as we consumed copious amounts of this spirit. By the time we realized it was a true-life demon; it was anything but glamourous.
Am I Susceptible to Societal Conditioning?
But are we subconsciously susceptible to these hypnotic tactics? The answer is yes. Our subconscious minds are constantly processing information, and we are not always aware of the influence that external factors have on our behavior. It is essential to be aware of these tactics and to make conscious decisions about our consumption of alcohol.
The hypnotic tactics used by the alcohol industry are powerful, and we must BE AWARE of them to make informed decisions about our consumption of alcohol. By understanding these techniques, we can take control of our behavior and break free from the subconscious influence of advertising and marketing.
